At this year’s A+A in Dusseldorf, Germany, DuPont will be showcasing the latest developments in its ranges of personal protection garments incorporating the well-known brands Nomex®, Kevlar®, Tyvek® and Tychem®.
New developments include:
The High Energy Arc Kit with Arc Thermal Protection Value (ATPV) >40 cal/cm2 – or how to achieve both high protective performance and maximum comfort.
PWG, a Nomex® Quality Partner and DuPont present the High Energy Kit incorporating Nomex®, introducing the latest technology used in the manufacturer of protective apparel for use against electric arc. The kit consists of a jacket, trousers, hood and gloves that are used in conjunction with respiratory equipment. The set is certified to IEC 61482-1-1 with ATPV > 40 cal/cm2 and to IEC 61482-1-2 class 2.
A new generation of low weight safety gloves made from Kevlar® and Nomex® to offer the multi-functionality of high level cut, heat and abrasion resistance as well as repelling water.
The glove was designed especially for the THW Technisches Hilfswerk and manufactured by Seiz. Due to the inner lining being made from DuPont™ Kevlar®, a high level of cut resistance is achieved. The back of the glove is made from a flame resistant fabric that combines DuPont™ Nomex® with an applied felt made from Kevlar® that increases the safety against contact heat, perforation and cuts. On top of this, the glove provides good abrasion properties and water repellence.
Nomex® ProVis – a high visibility Nomex® solution for industrial workers
There is an increasing demand from industrial workers and contractors operating in high risk areas to wear an EN471 (high visibility) compliant garment that has the additional benefits of heat and flame protection. Using the world renowned Nomex® fibre, DuPont Personal Protection has developed a yellow high visibility solution called Nomex® ProVis: this solution offers inherent protection from heat and flame, from molten metal splashes, and from heat of an electric arc; it is anti-static and performs in environments where high day light visibility is required.
Break the Contamination Chain – Don’t let your business become a vehicle for the H1N1 virus…
DuPont is also advising businesses to “Be Prepared” for a possible second outbreak of the H1N1 virus. The spread of swine flu can be contained if businesses are prepared for the second wave of the virus by providing the correct protective clothing and equipment for employees that will help to break the contamination chain. The range of DuPont™ Tyvek® suits, that includes Tyvek® Classic and Tyvek® Classic Plus, provides adequate protection against contamination. Tyvek® Classic Plus (Type 4, 5, 6) provides a more adequate barrier because of the combination of the fabric, the tight seams and the tight closure of the zipper flap. As a result of its manufacturing process, Tyvek® has an inherent barrier that delivers excellent protection and can help against the spread of the swine flu virus.
