DuPont will be showcasing the developments of its Tyvek®, Tychem®, ProShield®, Kevlar® and Nomex® brands at this year’s A+A Trade Fair on stand E31, hall 5. Demonstrating its comprehensive abilities in the area of protective clothing, DuPont will be displaying a range of new products under the motto ‘Closer to a Safe World’.
New to the portfolio is ProShield® FR, a single-use, limited flame spread, chemical protective coverall. It is made from DuPont™ Nomex® brand fibres and protects against minor contamination with chemicals and particles (types 5 & 6). Also on display at the DuPont A+A stand is the new Tyvek® Labo coverall, developed specifically for the laboratory and pharmaceutical markets. On show at the Interactive Knowledge Centre will be the DuPont™ Arc-Guide, an online service developed to help prevent the dangers of arc equipment.
The DuPont™ Arc-Guide, developed together with renowned European electric-arc specialists, will be available at the Interactive Knowledge Centre. It assists with risk analysis, offers advice on risk reduction, advises on the choice of suitable protective clothing and provides assistance with risk-analysis documentation and information for employees on site. The Interactive Knowledge Centre lets prospective customers use a number of multimedia workstations to find out about product ranges, different materials for protective clothing and the criteria required when choosing suitable garments. Visitors will be able to take part in a competition to win an iPad2, held jointly by DuPont with its Nomex® and Tyvek® partners.
The DuPont™ Tyvek® Labo, developed specifically for the laboratory and pharmaceutical markets, protects the wearer because it has an inherent barrier ensuring protection throughout the life of the garment and is antistatically treated to dissipate electrostatic charges when the wearer and garment are earthed. The ultra smooth surface of Tyvek® repels particles. The suit is certified to type 5 & 6 and offers 1.3% particle hold-out for particles of size 0.6 micron based on the test method EN ISO 13982-2:2004. It offers a chemical permeation barrier to many low concentrated inorganic chemicals. All these features combined maximise wearer protection.
DuPont™ ProShield® FR is a disposable protective coverall made from a flame-retardant SMS non-woven fabric. It is typically used, depending on chemical toxicity and exposure levels, for protection against particles (type 5), limited liquid splashes or sprays of non-flammable liquids (type 6) and in applications where personal protective equipment (PPE) offering limited heat and flame protection is required. Worn over a flame-resistant Index 2 or 3 protective garment, Proshield® FR protects from light chemical spray (unpressurised) and aerosol, particulates, dirt and grime, and thus extends the life of the garment. DuPont™ Proshield® FR is made from a non-halogenated flame-retardant non-woven fabric, meaning it is free of substances that can cause health concerns for the wearer according to current chemical and toxicological assessments. Proshield® FR also benefits from an antistatic treatment on both sides of the garment (the garment is compatible for explosive zones). ProShield® FR is expected to go on sale in early 2012.
DuPont’s product portfolio features tailor-made solutions to a wide range of hazards. It includes equipment protecting against heat and flames, impact wounds and cuts, chemicals, hazardous biological materials, toxic particles and, more generally, dirt and dust. Scientific research and many years of experience with protective clothing underpin ongoing development and expansion of this product range which is always state of the art and, in some cases, exceeds safety standards prescribed by regulations and laws.
