HB presents a welding protection innovation at A+A: HB-4welders®
Certified according to DIN EN ISO 11611 Class 2
Exclusive new development with lifelong flame-retardant properties
Ideal for heavy-duty welding work
Thalhausen, 4/11/2013 – At this year's A+A trade fair, HB Schutzbekleidung will be showcasing its completely innovative new welding protection collection. HB-4welders® is lighter, more comfortable, and more up to date – and features excellent protective properties which stand up to even heavy-duty welding work. This range is further evidence of HB's pioneering role in high-quality PPE offering desirable levels of safety.
"We have been able to develop an entirely new fabric by working in exclusive co-operation with the renowned fabric manufacturer IBENA and certification institutes. HB-4welders® meets the highest demands for modern design that conforms to all relevant standards," explains Klaus Berthold. "At 380g/m², it is much lighter than comparable – though usually somewhat heavier – materials used in welding protection, which often weigh 450g/m² or more. At the same time, our material is extremely resistant to heat and flame."
This is thanks to the special finishing method of the cotton used for HB-4welders® and the process for fixing the flame-retardant effect. The cotton products in the HB-4welders® range form a non-flammable protective layer when they come into contact with flames. This fire-proofing feature is not removed by mechanical stress or washing and cleaning processes, assuming these are carried out correctly.
Thanks to the high natural-fibre cotton content, HB-4welders® is also comfortable to wear as it compensates for humidity levels quickly and feels good even over a long period of time – as confirmed through successful tests involving daily usage over a period of several weeks. Parts that are subject to significant stress are even double-layered.
The polyester core integrated into the cotton makes HB-4welders® stable, robust, glossy, tear-proof, and very comfortable to wear. The carbon fibre woven in also provides the clothing with a permanent anti-static protective function.
HB-4welders® fulfils the criteria of four standards: the essential EN 116611 Class 2 against metal splashes and EN 11612 against heat and flames, plus protection against fault arcs to EN 61482-1-2 and, thanks to the carbon content, against electrostatic discharge in accordance with EN 1149-5.
The contemporary jeans-like appearance, featuring a used look, tops off the new collection. And although the design has been developed in line with specific standards, the company has not compromised on anything: HB-4welders® is highly modern welding protection which is not only fashionable, but, thanks to its excellent fabric properties, is also extremely colour-fast and keeps its shape – even after frequent washing, and even in industrial processing contexts.
It also has practical features such as integrated pockets for mobile phones and folding rulers, and pockets for knee pads. The new collection consists of a two-colour jacket and two one-colour trousers.
