Health and safety best practice in the quarrying industry

A new British website contains best practice ideas, a database of incident
alerts, toolbox talks and the latest on the quarrying industry's hot topics.
The best practice ideas come from the Quarry Products Association's annual
Health & Safety Best Practice Awards scheme.

Safequarry.com is one element of a package of resources that encourages the
sharing of health and safety knowledge across the quarrying and quarry products
industry. This site has been produced by the Quarry Products Association (QPA)
with substantial support from the Mineral Industry Research Organisation (MIRO)
and a range of other partners.

The website features hot topics like

  • Health and Safety Hard Targets
  • Respirable Crystalline Silica;

examples of company's internal health and safety procedures like

  • High pressure injection injuries
  • Manual Handling
  • Lifting Equipment and Operations
  • Safe stacking of materials
  • Protection of Eyes
  • Protection of skin
  • Vibration
  • Dust and Fumes
  • Asbestos
  • Control of noise
  • Alcohol and Drugs
  • Slips, trips and falls
  • Working in Confined Spaces;

as well as hundreds of Best Practice entries as a compilation of solutions that
companies have applied to minimise and, where possible, eliminate health and
safety risks arising from their daily operations.
