The US National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) released draft standards
for its Managed Care Organization (MCO), Managed Behavioral Healthcare
Organization (MBHO) and Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Accreditation
programs for public comment.
While many of the changes are incremental, NCQA is proposing to add several
Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measures as requirements
for MCO Accreditation. In addition, several existing elements of key quality
improvement (QI) and utilization management (UM) standards have been
reclassified as "must pass" elements.
Interested parties are encouraged to comment on the draft through April 18.
