The future look of workwear for the catering and hotel trades, in business and the service and health care sectors will be stylish yet comfortable. This is the underlying theme of Wangen-based textile specialist Melchior's new collection, which will be presented for the first time at the A+A 2007. Innovative fabrics, fresh new patterns and trendy colour schemes guarantee that garments are not only comfortable and easy to wear, but also stylish and elegant.
Made to last
The latest colour wovens from the "New Service Line" are a perfect example of the difference a luxury handle can make. A combination of top-quality thread, a unique weave and a superior finish produces cutting-edge fabrics that meet the highest requirements for wearer comfort and softness while at the same time satisfying the most exacting demands in terms of comfort and care. The exclusive quality of the fabrics is highlighted by the range of trendy colours, including black, navy, brown and stylish stripes.
The new cotton-rich single-colour fabrics in the heavier weight qualities of 200 to 300g/m² are set to make a splash in the workwear segment. They offer optimum stretch properties and easy-care qualities, and are available in a number of interesting designs, including satin and half panama.
Among the latest additions to Melchior's product range are various seersuckers, which owe their vibrant appearance not only to their distinctive finish, but also to their attractive, fashionable designs. The durable blend of cotton and polyester ensures that the grainy texture of the fabric is maintained even after numerous industrial launderings.
The "New Print Line", the popular range of Melchior prints, has also seen the addition of a number of brand new designs. Olives, tomatoes, kitchen utensils, lobsters, seafood and also stripy patterns in vivid colours add that special touch to garments for kitchen and service staff.
Like silk on the skin
In 2005 Melchior set new standards in wearer comfort with innovative Tencel blended fabrics. Now the company has gone one step further with the creation of new workwear fabrics for outer garments. In blending Lyocell with polyester and cotton, Melchior has succeeded in creating industrially launderable fabrics which have a soft handle and feel silky soft on the skin. The highly absorbent properties of Tencel makes these fabrics particularly comfortable to wear, a factor that is extremely important in jobs where high- temperature environments and work pressure can make people "hot under the collar". Once again, Melchior has reinterpreted the concept of functionality in the field of workwear fabrics – skilfully combining it with cutting-edge design.
