Online Interactive Risk Assessment for micro and small companies in Europe

Proper risk assessment is the key to healthy workplaces. Yet carrying out risk
assessments can be quite challenging, particularly for micro and small
enterprises which may lack the resources or the occupational safety and health
know-how to do so effectively.

Online Interactive Risk Assessment (OiRA) is a popular risk assessment tool
amongst micro and small companies in Europe. OiRA is a web application
developed by EU-OSHA which enables micro and small enterprises to implement
risk assessments and prevention plans. This is done through interactive tools
tailored to the user's sector, language and national context.

The OiRA community keeps growing: Almost 47.000 risk assessments were carried
out so far through OiRA while more than 95 tools have been developed across
Europe. They cover occupational sectors such as agriculture, catering,
cleaning, hairdressing, live performance, road transport, sports, and many
others.

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work published a summary of the
Annual report 2015 which gives a brief overview of the year, including all of
the main highlights. These include the first findings of the second edition of
the European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER-2); the
main results of the pilot project on older workers, ‘Safer and healthier work
at any age'; a successful year for EU-OSHA's Online interactive Risk Assessment
(OiRA) project; and the Healthy Workplaces Summit, a celebration of the
successes of the 2014-15 Healthy Workplaces Manage Stress campaign.
