Reminder of Deadline for ISO 9001

Lloyd's Register Quaity Assurance reminds that for those organisations that
wish to maintain ISO 9000 certification, the deadline for compliance to the new
2000 version of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standard is 15 December
2003.

An online article helps to get familiar with the new standard. The ISO
9001:2000 standard certainly looks different from the 1994 version. It no
longer uses the so called ‘20 elements’ but now adopts ‘a process approach’
which is intended to reflect the way in which most businesses operate. There is
now only one requirements standard ISO 9001 which replaces the three 1994
standards ISO 9001, ISO 9002 and ISO 9003. However, 9001:2000 does include some
provision for the exclusion of some of the requirements of the new standard
provided certain conditions are met.
