Protecting Zip-Line Workers

Recreational zip-lining is a popular activity found at places such as parks,
summer camps, amusement parks, and resorts. While many enjoy zip-lines, working
around them can be dangerous. Zip-line workers may be injured or killed by
hazards such as falls, colliding with riders and getting entangled in ropes or
caught in rotating parts.

A new pamphlet, published by the US-American Occupational Safety and Health
Administration OSHA, explains employers' responsibilities to provide safety
training and equipment to workers who run recreational zip-lining activities at
places such as parks, summer camps, amusement parks and resorts. The pamphlet
also reminds workers of their rights to speak up about safety concerns, receive
training in a language and vocabulary they understand and request an OSHA
inspection.
