A new report by Eurofound explores the main industrial relations developments -
in particular, the regulation and management of working time - in the EU, Japan
and the US over the period 2006-2007, and in the emerging economies of Brazil,
China and India.
Across the industrialised world, working schedules are becoming more flexible,
in part because of the growth of employment in services and the extension of
operating hours by companies. This extension of working time is leading to an
erosion of the demarcation between working life and personal life, especially
for workers in higher managerial positions and those in low-paid, low-skilled
jobs.
