The Swedish Work Environment Authority has published the proceedings of the
conference "Occupational exposure to electromagnetic fields: paving the way for
a future EU initiative".
The conference was held on 6-8 October 2009 by the Swedish EU Presidency in
association with the European Commission and arranged by the Swedish Work
Environment Authority and Umeå University, in the context of the postponed
transposition deadline for the EU Directive 2004/40/EC on occupational exposure
to electromagnetic fields.
As part of the process of wording the revised version of the Directive, the
conference was held to continue the debate with the stakeholders well in
advance before the decision is to be taken by the Parliament and by the
Council. It also gave an opportunity to discuss many of the still open
questions in interpretation of the current directive regarding practical
implementation.
