Organizations dedicated to applying engineering solutions to improve health in
developing countries may lack sufficient expertise in the public health aspects
of these efforts to ensure successful project design and implementation. The
occupational hygienist is a valuable complement to the efforts needed for
development-oriented public health engineering projects.
