EU directs Australian toxic changes

Australia's Hazardous Substances Information System (HSIS) online database is
being updated to incorporate changes to hazardous substances in the European
Union (EU).

The Hazardous Substances Information System (HSIS) online database will
incorporate changes in the EU's 31st Adaptation to Technical Progress to
Directive 67/548/EEC.

Updates for nickel compounds are being omitted at this stage, however, as the
EU's nickel compound updates are currently the subject of reconsideration and
legal action.

Updates include 92 amendments, 360 new entries and four deletions.

The updates are expected to be completed by the end of November.
