Demand for protective textiles used in industrial and hazardous occupations as well as in outdoor sports—designed to protect people from environmental and industrial hazards—is continuously rising. However, beyond the functional surfaces of technical textiles, it is critically important that the threads joining these surfaces also fulfill their required roles. Durak Cut Safe thread: With high tensile strength and excellent abrasion resistance, this thread is ideal for cut-resistant industrial sewing/knitting applications. It is manufactured from raw materials with high cut resistance—such as UHMWPE, glass fiber, and elastane—with various thickness and color options per customer request. Offered with high cut resistance at Cut3 and Cut5 levels, Durak Cut Safe meets the requirements of EN 388 and TDM-100 test methods. This thread is particularly suited for use in cut-resistant gloves, footwear, and protective workwear. Durak Cut Safe has high UV resistance, does not react with most solvents, and is not affected by microorganisms.

Durak Fire Safe P-Aramid and Durak Fire Safe M-Aramid threads: Made from 100 % P-aramid and M-aramid fibers, these threads are flame and heat resistant up to 500 °C and 370 °C, respectively. The threads, which stand out as a fire‑resistant solution needed not only in the automotive and thermal insulation industries but also by bedding and quilt manufacturers, have been tested and certified according to the EN ISO 15025 and EN ISO 6941 flame‑resistance standards. In high-temperature, high-risk environments (e.g., iron & steel, mining), using these threads in seam areas enhances flame resistance of protective garments, preserving garment integrity and extended functionality.

Durak Reflective thread: The Durak Reflective sewing and embroidery thread with a high level of reflectivity under low‑visibility conditions, is one of the indispensable elements of protective garments. This thread, specially developed using advanced technology, appears silver‑flecked in daylight and reflects as white when illuminated in darkness. The thread has shrinkage of less than 1% at 150 °C and is unaffected by washing and dry cleaning. It can be safely used in all seam areas where a reflective effect is required, providing superior abrasion resistance and high tensile strength.

For protective garments required under various conditions—such as climatic extremes of heat and cold, sudden and repeated impact, cutting, electrical conduction and insulation, and low‑light conditions—Durak Tekstil has developed many different solutions. Some threads are available in versions with water‑repellent (WR) properties. In waterproof garments, issues especially occurring at seams are eliminated with WR threads. Antistatic (AS) threads, which prevent the passage of static charges, provide solutions to electrical issues. The Durak Bug Safe thread, which combines insect‑repellent functionality with sustainability, can be used in bedding/quilted products, outdoor textiles, agricultural textiles, and many other applications. With its special odor, the thread keeps insects away from seam areas and prevents their reproduction, offering long‑lasting protection with superior durability.

The Durak Poly‑Strong PC‑IR sewing thread provides excellent infrared camouflage in the 700–1200 nm wavelength range. It eliminates issues of seam visibility in military and security garments. The recently launched Durak Laser Safe sewing thread prevents strength loss and breakages caused by laser applications in the denim industry. The thread has been tested against four different laser intensities and has proven its performance.
