Innophys Opens First Overseas Representative Office in Germany to Accelerate Expansion in Europe’s Growing Exoskeleton Market

Innophys Co., Ltd., a startup originating from Tokyo University of Science that manufactures and sells assist suits, has opened its first overseas representative office in Essen, Germany in June 2025. Through this new office, the company aims to accelerate its expansion in Europe, where demand for assist suits is rapidly growing.

Background of Establishment

Guided by its philosophy, “Realizing an independent life for as long as one lives,” Innophys was founded in 2013 in Japan, a country facing the challenges of a super-aged society. The company’s mission is to help create a society where everyone can remain active throughout their lives.

Since its founding, Innophys has developed and sold the Muscle Suit® series of assist suits, powered not by electricity but by artificial muscles driven by compressed air to support physical movement. The series has been adopted in various sectors—including nursing care, agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, and construction—and as of April 2025, cumulative sales have exceeded 35,000 units worldwide.

The Muscle Suit® has attracted strong interest from overseas markets, particularly in Europe. Sales in EU countries began in March 2021, and the product is now available in 13 European countries, including France, Spain, and Italy. Demand for assist suits continues to grow in Europe, with Germany standing out as a high-potential market. Through exhibitions, advertising campaigns, and direct customer engagement, Innophys identified Germany as a strategic priority for expansion. The establishment of the representative office will further strengthen the company’s local presence and accelerate business development across Europe.
