Textile company Narkonteks is opening its fourth factory in Van. The factory, which will be built with an investment of 10 million euros, is planned to employ 1,000 people.
Narkonteks, which manufactures in the categories of underwear, thermal, sports, home and beachwear, is opening its fourth factory in Van within the scope of the ‘Textile and Ready-to-Wear Organized Industrial Zone Project’ implemented within the scope of the ‘Attraction Centers Support Program’ of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Work on the factory construction has begun following the groundbreaking ceremony on July 3, 2022. It is planned to employ a thousand people in the new factory to be opened in the Van Textile and Ready-to-Wear Organized Industrial Zone.
Narkonteks, which currently has production facilities in İzmir and Manisa and a logistics center in İzmir, has a Van production factory designed to have a 24 thousand square meter closed area on a 35 thousand square meter land. The factory, which is planned to open in 2023, is planned to have 85 percent of the employees be women and to produce 15 million units per year. Designed in accordance with EU standards and giving importance to the concepts of environment and sustainability, all of the energy to be used in the new factory to be established by Narkonteks in Van will be obtained from the sun and a rainwater harvesting infrastructure will be established.
Exports to over 25 countries
Making statements regarding the new factory, Narkonteks Board Chairman Toygar Narbay announced that the Narkonteks family, which was established in Izmir in 2005, will open the new factory in Van.
Narbay, who stated that they are a company that produces a very wide range of products, said, “We are proud of our investment in Van, which will be the new center of textile production in our country, with the Textile and Ready-to-Wear Organized Industrial Zone that was established in Van. As Narkonteks, it is of great importance for us to support the human resources in Van and to help develop Van and revitalize its economy.”
Narkonteks, which was deemed worthy of the ‘Gold’ award within the scope of ‘Stars of Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exports of 2021’ by the Aegean Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters’ Association (EHKİB), exports to over 25 countries, primarily the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. Narkonteks, also known in Turkey and around the world with its Blackspade brand, plans to increase its exports as Narkonteks and the number of stores with its Blackspade brand this year.
