There are various reasons why employees are reluctant to report accidents at work," knows safety engineer Stefan Ganzke. "Especially so-called minor accidents are often swept under the rug because employees are uncomfortable admitting their own mistakes. Lack of knowledge about the obligation to report or the fear of negative consequences can also lead to accidents not being reported. The big problem here is that, because of the non-reporting, the company has no chance to take appropriate preventive measures to improve safety in the workplace."
