https://bit.ly/3VnmGM9. This A+A Expert Talk focuses on the “GDA Gefahrstoff-Check” (Hazardous Substances Check), which supports companies in the risk assessment of activities involving cancerogenic hazardous substances. This free online tool was elaborated by the accident insurers and the German Statutory Accident Insurance Institutes as part of the work programme “Sicherer Umgang mit krebserzeugenden Gefahrstoffen” (Safe Handling of Cancerogenic Hazardous Substances) and introduces readers to specific obligations and measures in an easily understandable and compact format using concrete examples. In addition, it features an overview of industry-specific practical aids. “When people at work are exposed to cancerogenic hazardous substances this often goes unnoticed initially. Serious damage to health may only occur a lot later. This is why it is all the more important to take special precautions at workplaces involving such activities,” says Dr. Christian Felten underlining the key role of the GDA Gefahrstoff-Check.
Dr. Hans-Peter Fröhlich, Head of the Chemical Impacts and Measuring Technology Department at BGHW - Berufsgenossenschaft Handel und Warenlogistik (Employers’ Liability Insurance for Retail and Logistics), will deliver a lecture on the different hazardous substances as well as on relevant prevention measures at the A+A Expert Talk.
Dr. Alexander Schneider, Head of Hazardous Substances Information at the Central Exposure Database - GESTIS, the Employers’ Liability Insurance’s Occupational Safety Institute (DGUV - IFA) will explain the benefits of the GDA Gefahrstoff-Check, to identify the hazards caused by cancerogenic substances at work effectively and with foresight, and to be able to take efficient protective measures.
Dr. Lothar Neumeister, Advisor at the Centre of Expertise for Hazardous Materials, BG ETEM - Berufsgenossenschaft Energie Textil Elektro Medienerzeugnisse (Employers’ Liability Insurance for Energy, Textiles, Electrical and Media Products) will flag up the medical prevention aids that the GDA Gefahrstoff-Check offers. Thanks to the consistent implementation of occupational medicine prevention before, during and after handling cancerogenic substances, the hazards to employees can be minimized and occupational diseases be avoided and/or detected at an early stage.
Best practice examples of the use of the GDA Gefahrstoff-Check in the construction sector with be shared by Dipl.-Chem. Rainer Dörr, Department Prevention – Sub-Department Hazardous Materials, BG BAU – Employers’ Liability Insurance for the Construction Industry.
