The 104th China International Occupational Safety & Health Goods Expo (CIOSH 2023) concluded with a great success at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNICE) on April 15th. Jointly organized by the China Textile Commerce Association (CTCA) and Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (MDS), CIOSH 2023 was the first trade fair for occupational safety and health in China after the comprehensive opening of the epidemic situation. 1,522 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions showcased their advanced protective equipment and technology in an exhibition area exceeding 80,000 square meters. The three-day exhibition attracted a total of 47,616 trade visitors, which saw an increase of 32.6% compared to CIOSH 2021 and 90.4% compared to CIOSH 2019, fully restoring and even surpassing the scale prior to the epidemic.
“This year's exhibition marked the restart of the trade fair industry in China after the global epidemic.” Marius Berlemann, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai Co., Ltd. commented. “I am thrilled to see that industry professionals from all over the world can finally gather here in person for face-to-face business communication and hands-on experience with the latest products and technologies. Healthy employees and safe workplaces are the common goals of global enterprises. The achievements of CIOSH 2023 once again affirmed its position as the leading trade and exchange platform for occupational safety and health fields in China and Asia.”
Overwhelming positive feedback from exhibitors and professional visitors alike
Exhibitors expressed great satisfaction with the exhibition and even exceeded their expectations.
Mr. Matthias Stetter, Director RBU ACJ (Asia, China, Japan) of UVEX was satisfied with the results: “After 3 years of pandemic we are now back, meeting face to face, having the opportunities to exchange information. The results were better than my expected. The number, professionalism and quality of the visitors coming from different sectors, who have visited our booth and show the interest in our products, is overwhelming.”
“We are very happy to be here, especially after the last few years of difficulties, and the segment is booming again,” said Mr. Alexander Kirzinger, President of Teijin Aramid Asia. “CIOSH has been the prime event for protective apparel in China and Asia for more than 50 years. We are delighted with the customers and partners that we are able to meet here all along.”
Mr. Lin Yanfeng, General Manager of Jiande Daily Chemicals Co., Ltd. (Chaomei) said: “To Chaomei, CIOSH is undoubtedly the most important trade fair in our industry. It has played an instrumental role in Chaomei's growth. We began participating in CIOSH in the late 90s when we were a small factory with only 20 employees. Over the decades, CIOSH has enabled us to accumulate a valuable customer base, allowing us to gradually expand to our current size. I wholeheartedly thank CIOSH for its unwavering support of Chaomei and eagerly anticipate its ongoing success.”
Furthermore, 93% of visitors stated that they had a productive and fulfilling experience, and returned with satisfactory results.
Mr. Liu Yichen, General Manager of Shenzhen Zhuxin Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. expressed: “CIOSH is an annual trade show I simply cannot afford to miss. In comparison to the pandemic period, both the exhibition's scale and on-site attendance have seen a noticeable recovery. As a manufacturing company, we require a wide range of PPE products. At CIOSH, numerous prestigious brands come together, showcasing an extensive selection of high-quality, diverse products, granting us an abundance of choices.”
Concurrent events provide a prime opportunity to stay ahead of the curve and stay informed about the latest industry trends
The annual Industry Technical Seminar is a critical component of CIOSH. On April 13th-14th, the Industry Technical Seminar brought together experts in protective equipment, university professors, technicians, certified testers, and corporate executives to the Hall E6. With a focus on the sustainable development of the personal protective equipment (PPE) industry, the 16 seminars delved into topics such as the application of new materials and technologies, the effects of "carbon neutrality" on the PPE industry chain, and current national policies and environmental changes. Experts also explored the interdependence between the PPE industry and the growth of China's manufacturing sector, offering new perspectives to attendees.
Since some scenic areas were found to be using unsafe "safety belts" in China, high-altitude safety issues have been brought to the forefront of public discourse this year. As a key area of focus for CIOSH 2023, a Fall Protection Zone was set up in Hall E7. The professional and straightforward high-altitude safety guidance and training received significant attention.
Focusing on the "occupational health" sector, a new Ergonomics Zone and a new Exoskeleton Technology Zone made their debuts in Hall E6. The Ergonomics Zone, launched by CIOSH and MARATTI, the ergonomic unicorn brand in China, addressed the sub-optimal health status of people in the office with highly targeted solutions. Visitors were invited to recharge their spines by using ergonomic seats, maintain office fitness through healthy dynamic balance stations, and effectively tackle the health problems associated with prolonged sitting. In the Global Concept Center, visitors experienced the energy brought by creative workplace space designs for the Z generation.
Meanwhile, the Exoskeleton Technology Zone featured two exoskeleton robots for upper limb and waist from ULS Robotics, demonstrating a low-loss and high-efficiency working model achieved through human-machine integration. Visitors tried on the exoskeleton robots and felt the support provided to their arms and waist, making it easier to perform heavy and repetitive tasks.
