Streamlight ® Inc., a leading provider of high- performance lighting, introduced the Vulcan ® LED, a water-resistant, rechargeablelantern featuring the latest in power LED technology for extreme brightness. The new light, which is ATEX and IECEx-rated for use in Zone 2 environments, is also one of the lightest weight lanterns in its category.
“The Vulcan LED gives emergency responders an extremely bright lantern to navigate difficult environments,” said Streamlight Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Michael F. Dineen. “Its also exceptionally lightweight because it is powered by Lithium Ion
nanotechnology batteries. And for users who must frequently operate in hazardous locations, the lantern meets ATEX and IECEx safety ratings for use in Zone 2 environments around the world.”
On high, the lantern delivers 100,000 candela peak beam intensity, a 632 meter beam distance, and 180 lumens; on low, 40,000 candela, a 400 meter beam distance, and 70 lumens. Its deep-dish parabolic reflector produces a tight beam with optimum peripheral illumination to aid in navigation.
The light features three settings: High (3.5 hours run time), Low (7.5 hours run time), and Blinking High (5.5 hours run time). The lights operating temperature is -28° C to 54°C. (To maintain its hazardous locations rating, the light must be operated in a
temperature range of -20° C to 35° C.) The Vulcan LED uses the latest in power LED technology. Powered by two Lithium Ion
nanotechnology cells, the light recharges in 5 hours. The Vulcan LED can be run on existing Vulcan batteries, and also fits all existing Vulcan chargers.
The new light is constructed from unbreakable polycarbonate with a scratch-resistant coating and is O-ring sealed. Measuring 7.78 inches long and 6.5 inches high, it weighs only 1.93 pounds with the battery. It is IP66 rated for dust-tight and water-resistant
operation. The light also is impact-resistant tested to 2 meters.
The Vulcan LED comes with Streamlight's Limited Lifetime Warranty.
