Düsseldorf, 30 January 2023 - In the run-up to A+A, the organizers are launching the "A+A Expert Talks" webinar series on key occupational health and safety topics on February 8 as a content-based preparation for the trade show. The innovative series of webinars addresses both exhibitors and visitors of A+A alike.
Jointly with its strategic partners of BASI - Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft für Sicherheit und Gesundheit bei der Arbeit (German Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health) Fraunhofer IPA, German Fashion (Modeverband Deutschland e.V.), DGUV - Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung (German Statutory Accident Insurance), BAuA – Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin (Federal Agency for Occupational Safety and Health), BMAS – Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales (Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs), IVPS - Interessenverbund Persönliche Schutzausrüstung e.V. (Interest Group PPE) as well as IFA - Institut für Arbeitsschutz (Institute for Occupational Safety and Health), the world’s No. 1 Trade Fair for Safety, Security and Health at Work offers its community high-calibre networking and information formats. The webinar is in English and targets decision-makers from the areas of occupational safety, work planning and production planning as well as insurers, safety engineers and company physicians from all over Europe.
In cooperation with Fraunhofer IPA the first web session provides exciting insights into the current developments and innovations in exoskeleton technology. Exoskeletons and wearables are forward-looking, cross-sector themes in the working world and are already successfully used in industry, logistics, nursing care and the skilled trades. Actively powered exoskeletons will not replace human beings in future but support them more effectively with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and compensate for increasing physical impairments – thereby also contributing to keeping workers performant and healthy for longer. They are increasingly used in the prevention and therapy of musculoskeletal diseases. Facilitated by Urban Daub, expert for production technology and automation at the Fraunhofer IPA, specialists from science and business will flag up the various functional modes and applications for exoskeletons and present different use cases, best practices as well as new approaches for solutions.
David Duwe, Vice President of Ottobock Bionic Exoskeletons Europe, will share the current innovations of this global health-tech company.
In his lecture Boudewijn Wisse of Dutch exoskeleton manufacturer Laevo will present the latest back-supporting exoskeleton and explains how exoskeletons work to avoid back pain resulting from heavy physical work.
In addition, the webinar attaches special attention to the current trends and market developments in exoskeleton technology, also with a focus on the scientific perspective: it will introduce the prospective study approach “Exoworkathlon” presented by Verena Kopp, scientific co-worker at the IPA.
The latter assesses exoskeletons in realistic applications rating them objectively on the basis of various assessment parameters. The “Exoworkathlon” will also be carried out as a live study at WearRAcon Europe and A+A 2023.
“The exoskeleton market is growing rapidly at present and many different sectors of industry benefit from the rising number of innovative products for a variety of applications,” explains Verena Kopp. “Looking further ahead, more and more exoskeletons will probably be actively driven and, hence, AI will also make increasing inroads. This webinar provides you with insights into the current best practices but also future developments as well as new approaches,” adds Urban Daub.
“With this series of webinars we give the community a high-calibre networking and information platform where experts as well as exhibitors and visitors can find detailed information and exchange ideas on the innovation themes of A+A 2023. In addition, this seminar series will be enhanced with exclusive background information such as e-books and white papers,” explains Lars Wismer, who has acted as the new Director of A+A since early December 2022.
The next Expert Talk on the Management of Hazardous Substances will then be held in cooperation with BASI on 9 May from 10.00 am to approx. 11.30 am. June will see the latest developments in sustainability and circular capability as well as the European Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive being presented in cooperation with German Fashion.
