IOSH picked up a Good Practice Award from the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work this year, for the Wiseup2work resource launched in May 2006.
Wiseup2work is a free interactive online resource that helps teachers, youth workers and employers prepare teenagers for work. It’s sponsored by the Learning and Skills Council, and supported by the British Chambers of Commerce and the National Youth Agency.
IOSH is one of 8 organisations to win a European award, presented at the Safe Start Summit in Bilbao.
Neil Budworth, IOSH immediate past president, collected the award:
“This is a great testament to all the hard work that has gone into Wiseup2work and our campaign focusing on young people. We’ve made great progress in getting our message across to teenagers, and I hope we continue to see the results of our lobbying and campaigning throughout the next year.”
