Personal protective equipment (PPE)

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is an important aspect of occupational health and safety. PPE includes a variety of equipment designed to protect the bodies of workers in work environments where they may be exposed to potential hazards. Employers are obliged to provide PPE. But workers also have a responsibility to understand why and when they should use personal protective equipment, how to use it correctly and what type of PPE is required for their specific work situation.

PPE ensures the health and safety of the worker and includes a variety of equipment that can protect the body from injury, illness or damage, such as helmets, gloves, safety glasses, respirators, safety boots and more. The right PPE can reduce the risk of injury and even save lives. It is therefore important that protective equipment is used properly and meets the requirements of the specific work situation.

A+A protective equipment for different occupational groups
There are different types of personal protective equipment that are suitable and comfortable for different groups of people depending on the type of work they do and the risks they are exposed to. At A+A, you will find manufacturers of PPE specifically for the following occupational groups:

  • Construction workers: hard hats, safety boots, safety goggles, hearing protection and protective gloves.
  • Laboratory technicians: chemical protective suits, acid protective clothing, skin protection products, respiratory masks, gloves, safety goggles and overshoes.
  • Hospital staff: disposable clothing, protective clothing, respirators, gloves, goggles and protective hoods.
  • Firefighters: breathing masks, steel-toed boots, heat protection clothing, functional underwear and life jackets.
Other protective equipment includes: sandblasting clothing, welding protective clothing, cold weather protective clothing, system provider PPE, high visibility clothing, weather protective clothing, wearable technologies/smart PPE, rope protection/fall protection.

It is important to ensure that the workwear is suitable for the user's activities and meets the standards. Employers are obliged to provide their employees with the necessary PPE and ensure that they know how to use and maintain it. However, simply providing the equipment is not enough: employees should be trained before use to recognize when PPE is needed to prevent injuries and accidents.

PPE regulation
The PPE Ordinance regulates the legal requirements for personal protective equipment that must be used in the workplace. This regulation specifies what protective equipment is required to ensure the health and safety of employees in the workplace. Employers are obliged to provide their employees with the necessary PPE and to ensure that it is used properly. In particular, the requirements of the DGUV and relevant standards must be taken into account. The PPE Ordinance is intended to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace and protect the health of employees. It is important to strictly adhere to the provisions of this regulation in order to ensure safety in the workplace.

Expert contacts and knowledge exchange in the field of PPE
The trade fair and exhibitors offer visitors networking events such as specialist presentations, discussion panels, workshops and meet-and-greet sessions with experts in the field of PPE. These opportunities offer the added value of talking directly to industry experts, discussing current trends and best practices and making valuable business contacts.
