Workwear Fabrics

Worldwide, millions of people work comfortably and safely in garments made from Carrington fabrics. Workwear that’s supremely fit for purpose, offering optimum performance together with maximum value in commercial terms.

All these fabrics have been specifically developed to deliver functionality and durability during a long working life – and retain their outstanding properties throughout repeated wash and wear cycles. Which means they stay looking smart, helping enhance an all-important corporate image.

We are consulted on workwear by clients in a wide range of sectors including: Healthcare, Heavy Industry,  Light Engineering,  Food Processing,  Retail,  Distribution,  Defence, Hospitality, Travel, Utilities, Public Sector and Emergency Services.

We work with laundries and other industry specialists to make sure our fabrics meet ETSA standards – and our CAD team collaborate with garment manufacturers, distributors, brands and end-users to create bespoke designs in fabrics for specific tasks.

Carrington workwear fabrics are worn by personnel working for brand giants such as McDonalds, BUPA, TATA Steel, Shell, Coca Cola, Airbus, Jaguar Land Rover, BP and Arcelor Mittal.

We also have long term relationships with major laundries across Europe such as Alsco, Bardusch, Berendsen, Johnsons Apparelmaster, Lindstrom, Mewa and Elis.

Flame Retardant Fabrics

We are Europe’s leading supplier of Flame Retardant finished fabrics for workwear, with decades of experience. Our focus is on the market’s evolving needs to create the ultimate protection. To do this, we work with garment manufacturers and rental laundries to develop flame retardant fabrics that meet Industry, European and Industrial Laundry standards.

Fabrics that combine versatile performance with outstanding wearer comfort, appearance and durability. All produced in of the most modern bleaching, dyeing, printing and finishing facilities in the world.

It’s an extensive range that protects against specific or multiple hazards including: fire, heat, static electricity, sparks, metal splash, chemical splash, electric arc, crude and mineral oil, acid solutions, poor visibility, foul weather and wind and low temperatures.

Technical Multi-norm

Workers need protection not only to existing norms, but also those anticipated in coming years. As standards become increasingly global, we are meeting this increasing market demand for multi-norm fabrics across a wide spectrum of industries.

These include Foundries, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas. Within this fabric range we offer options to suit different comfort levels linked to specific protection. For example, extremes of heat, humidity and low temperature.

For Electricity and Energy companies needing advanced uniform conformity against Flash Fire and Electric Arc - where European and American norms differ - Carrington offer multi-layer solutions that will pass both certifications.

Our ongoing developments include an Inherent Flame Retardant suite of products. We’re also expanding our waterproof, breathable, coated and laminated versions of some of our existing treated Flame Retardant products – and offering new products in nylon and polyester base fabrics.

Waterproof Fabrics

Our continually updated collections of coated and laminated fabrics deliver waterproof and/or breathable performance – designed to meet various European Norms in the most cost effective way.

Supplied throughout Europe and the world, they are the result of a development programme that includes independent testing and certification. The collection includes Coated Fabrics and Laminated Fabrics.

COATED Series –

Nylon and polyester base fabrics in various weights. The PU coated collection offers EN 343 3:3 conformance at a competitive price. Each fabric is fully independently tested and is stock backed in a large shade range of standard shades - including various EN 20471 High Visibility shades.

LAMINATED Series -

To meet the growing demand from our customers for greater multiple functionality, we offer the application of waterproof and breathable membranes to our existing FR treated fabrics. This process adds 30-40gsm to the total weight - and gives the final fabric EN 343 3:3 performance for waterproofness and breathability.

A typical example is Flamestat 290, which gives a mid-range weight fabric with conformance to many European Norms including EN 343 3:3 and EN 20471.

There are also 100% filament fibres that have been used successfully in waterproof garments and proven over many years. These include DENALI, a lightweight soft-handle high performance product - available in 2 Layer or 3 Layer form. Plus, ALASKA, a more rugged hard-wearing high performance product.

We are continuously updating the choice – please contact us for more information on specific technical fabrics.
