Modern and effective protection of the population

The RESPIRA protective respiratory facial half mask from Nanologix is a mask of the next generation, the development of which was aimed at reliable functionality combined with ease of use. The basic requirement for correct functionality of every respiratory facial half mask is to ensure a perfect seal at the edges where the elastic parts of the mask are in contact with the face. This seal has been achieved by gradual developmental and structural steps, which in particular included optimising the shapes of the individual parts of the mask. Individual dimensions are derived from an anthropometric study of the human face focused on the European population, and represent mean values at size intervals of the morphometric dimensions of adult faces. Maximum flexibility and the ability to follow the form of the human face perfectly have been accomplished through the geometry of the cheeks of the mask – the contact areas providing a tight fit to the face – as well as through the elasticity of the selected material. The special type of silicone used for the elastic part of the RESPIRA half mask was developed specifically for use in the health service industry, and as such conforms to the strictest requirements. The high flexibility of the silicone allows for the even distribution of the pressure developed by the cheeks of the mask on the face, thus ensuring perfect tightness combined with comfort, even when used for a prolonged period. Moreover, silicone demonstrates high chemical resistance and so the mask will not be damaged by contact with a wide range of chemicals. Another significant advantage of this material is its low susceptibility to permanent deformation, which means that the mask can be stored in a folded state in small storage containers – when unpacked the mask regains its original shape and is ready for immediate use. Furthermore, silicone, due to its extreme resistance to aging, does not lose its elasticity, which ensures the long service life of the half mask. The rigid part of the mask, which is used to attach the filter, is made of high-performance thermoplastic polymer which is reinforced with fibre filler in order to increase firmness. This material demonstrates perfect adhesiveness to the silicone part which is an indispensable feature to ensure a reliable seal. The connection between the silicone and the rigid part is so strong that it can withstand considerable mechanical stress.
