Asiatic Fiber Corporation (AFC) Offers Robustly Built Garment to Tackle Workplace Health & Safety Challenges

Considering the remarkable rise of coronavirus infection worldwide and the need for reliable textiles and workwear for ESD environments, the leading functional textile  manufacturer,  Asiatic  Fiber  Corporation  (AFC),  introduces  a  range  of enhanced,   quality   garments   with   antistatic,  anti-chemical,  and  antibacterial functions at the  A+A Exhibition, Germany in October 2021.

Designed to function like a mobile shelter, cleanroom antistatic workwear made of AFC’s cleanroom ESD fabric offers excellent protection against electrostatic discharge, and customer can choose to adopt AFC’s exclusive antibacterial technology, can to offer additional protection against microbial and bad smell. protect a wearer from contagious infections, eliminating the risk of contamination with AFC’s exclusive antibacterial technology.

Why Should the ESD Protective Area (EPA) Adopt Antibacterial Garments?
The demand for antibacterial workwear has been steadily increasing as the Covid 19  pandemic causes a change in the way people consider personal protection & hygiene.   Several   pieces  of  evidence  advocate  that  the  antimicrobial  textiles

market  is  estimated  to  surpass  USD  20.5  billion  by  2026,  providing  immense growth opportunities for textiles and other related industries. Garments treated with   antibacterial   finishes   prevent   microorganisms   from   overgrowth   while providing  utmost  protection  against  decomposition.  Antibacterial  finishes  also prevent the apparels from uncomfortable effects of microbes such as bad smell.
The special finishing in textile manufacturing gives enhanced antibacterial characteristics to the materials such as biocidal or biostatic. Both substances are proven to inhibit microorganism’s growth. Several antimicrobial textile fabrics are manufactured using a variety of active agents and synthetic antimicrobial agents such as triclosan phenols, organometallics, and quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC). Based on the principle of bio-barrier formation, the chemically-treated antimicrobials are bound to the garments' surface and act as a barrier for the microorganisms. Apparels with bio-based antibacterial finish do not only provide protection against deadly viruses but also minimize theimpacts upon human health and the environment from potentially hazardous waste streams.

Transferring Technology from High-End Medical Garments

As a functional textile innovator, AFC have been fostering transdisciplinary and experimental collaborations with the fashion and sport industry. Its ability to transfer advanced technology to related fields and beyond is grounded on the on-site R&D and lab centre that is directly managed by the leadership team in Taipei, Taiwan.

During the pandemic, AFC listened to the clients from different industries  around the world, worked on applying antibacterial technology that are used in high-end surgical garments such as T65 and T80 to ESD garments. As a leader in the specialised textile industry, AFC foresees the cleanroom functional textiles standards rising post-pandemic and they are ready to help their clients to prepare for the future to come.

The  antibacterial  technology  eliminates  bacteria  cell  growth  or  hinders  their development,  leading  to  less  chance  of  contracting  the  infection  in  high-end surgical  garments  to  ESD  fabrics.  AFC’s  fabric  is  tested  with  the  AATCC100 method   against   bacteria   including   Klebsiella   Pneumoniae   that   cause   fatal co-infection   or   superinfection   with   SARS-CoV-2.   AFC’s   exclusive,   biobased antibacterial technology is proven to be 99.8% effective after a 100 wash cycles.

Many industries are catching up as AFC continues to advance
The pandemic has changed how several industries consider basic functionality of apparel for consumer clothing. Antibacterial properties are no longer exclusive to specialist garments. Denim brand Diesel is also promoting an antiviral fabric for its jeans, which is claimed to physically halt 99% of any viral activity. Several government bodies, hospitals, hospitality firms, aviation, and uniform providers

have also adopted antibacterial fabrics. L atin America is expected to generate

approximately  $1  billion  revenue  by  2026  as  the  demand  for  antimicrobial textiles increases in the healthcare industry. Rising awareness about hygiene and a  positive  outlook  towards  the  clothing  industry  will  raise  the  antimicrobial textiles market share.

For A Better ESD Control
The highly concentrated functionality of AFC’s ESD fabric not only fulfils current requirements for a standard ESD workplace, it can also be seen as an determining environmental factor as AFC’s ESD garment functions like a mini habitat for a wearer. The innovative decision on migrating certain features from high-end medical garments, AFC transforms ESD workwear into an active agency that contributes to a better and safer ESD workplace.
