The Blue Angel for textiles and shoes

The German government's eco-label has been certifying environmentally friendly, healthy and durable products and services since 1978. The Blue Angel is thus the world's first and Germany's best-known eco-label - and stands for credibility, competence and objectivity in compliance with ecological and social standards, both among consumers and public procurers. Textiles and shoes can also be awarded the independent seal. The criteria of the Blue Angel for textiles and shoes take into account the entire manufacturing process. In the case of textiles, a wide range of fibre types are taken into account - from natural fibres to chemical and regenerated cellulose fibres to recycled fibres. Therefore, in addition to classic clothing, work and functional textiles can also be certified with the Blue Angel for textiles (DE-ZU 154). Different materials are also used for shoes - shoes made of leather, textile or rubber. This means that different types of footwear - such as leisure shoes, sports shoes, work shoes or hiking boots - can be awarded the Blue Angel for footwear (DE-ZU 155).
